Job Summary

The Pathways to Hope Manager (PHM) is a full-time coordinator for children’s programming designed specifically for children who have witnessed or experienced family violence. The PHM is responsible for developing and maintaining a system of Mentors and Volunteers to work directly with children through the Camp HOPE  program.  Additionally, the PHM will coordinate and oversee Camp HOPE, an evidence-based curriculum camping and mentoring initiative to focus on children who have been exposed to domestic violence.  The vision for Camp HOPE is to break the generational cycle of family violence by offering healing and hope through a weeklong camping experience for children.  Following Camp, the PHM will continue to engage the children and their families throughout the year in monthly events.

Essential Functions

Ability to organize, coordinate and implement a week-long outdoor Camp for at least 75 Campers;
Knowledge and skills to recruit, organize, train, utilize, motivate and recognize Mentors, Camp Counselors, Camp Volunteers and organizations;
Skill in speaking effectively to public groups;
Skill in communicating verbally and in writing using tact and diplomacy;
Ability to coordinate monthly relationship building events for Mentors, Camp Counselors and Camp Volunteers and children to attend together;
Ability to schedule, assign and coordinate the activities of others;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
Ability to maintain confidential records and statistics;
Ability to evaluate program quality, effectiveness, and initiate appropriate changes;
Ability to compile monthly statistical reports on children served through the program;
Ability to supervise a staff of Camp Counselors and Camp Volunteers and manage multiple projects;
Participate in quarterly Children’s Committee Meetings;
Plan and implement Palomar’s annual Trunk or Treat event;
Plan and implement Palomar’s annual Symbols of Hope Art Contest;
Develop and implement additional Children’s Programming as identified.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college/university with major course work in criminal justice, social work, public administration or a related field.  Or equivalent 4 years of experience.
Desire and ability to lead a week-long outdoor Camp;
Event planning experience is a plus, but not required;
Demonstration of sensitivity and awareness to cultural and ethnic differences;
Ability to effectively engage with the public; ability to establish effective working relationships with supervisor, employees, Collaborative Team members, onsite and offsite partners, volunteers, Universities and the general public;
Ability to handle crisis and stressful situations;
Flexibility and problem solving skills;
Must successfully pass a background check and have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and auto insurance.
Manager must demonstrate dynamic interpersonal skills which will be utilized to engage with campers, families, volunteers, staff and partners.

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time in an office environment and must be able to lift/move weight up to 25lbs. Employees are also required to accept incoming calls and must be able to hear and speak. Must have visual acuity to read and draft reports, case notes, letters, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. Must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer. The noise level is quiet to moderate; non-smoking environment.
