Help for Pets
Studies have shown a link between animal abuse, child abuse, and domestic violence. For example, 89% of women who had companion animals during an abusive relationships reported that their animals were threatened, harmed, or killed by their abusive partner.
Services for Pets
We have partnered with the Oklahoma Humane Society to create the Animal Advocacy Program to assist survivors of domestic violence with their animals. We have an Animal Advocate on-site who can help care for your companion animals while you focus on getting yourself to safe place.
Services provided by the Program include:
- Temporary foster placement for pets
- Pet pantry supplies
- Veterinary care resources
- Pet safety planning assistance
- Pet security deposits
- Animal-abuse related police report advocacy
