Engagement Assistant – Red River AmeriCorps Member
Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Work Environment: Onsite in OKC, OK
Job Summary:
The Engagement Assistant is a full-time AmeriCorps position that supports Palomar’s mission of protection, hope, and healing by coordinating outreach initiatives, community engagement, and marketing efforts that strengthen awareness of Palomar’s services and mission. This role assists with planning and executing staff & partner engagement activities, trainings, meetings, and community events while supporting the organization’s communications through social media, content creation, graphic design, and other marketing initiatives. From preparing event spaces and materials to creating engaging content and ensuring timely follow-up, the Engagement Assistant helps foster meaningful connections with partners, volunteers, and the community while expanding awareness of Palomar’s impact and strengthening the network of care for survivors.

Essential Job Duties:
Meetings & Trainings
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities that deepen understanding of Palomar and partner agency services.
- Prepare meeting spaces, order refreshments, take meeting notes, and provide follow-up support as appropriate.
- Assist with the coordination and participate in engagement activities such as partner tours, lunch and learns, staff committee events, etc.
Events & Community Engagement
- Represent Palomar at community events to increase awareness of services and recruit volunteers, interns, mentors, and donors.
- Assist with planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of outreach events, trainings, and community engagement activities.
- Provide hands-on support for client, community, and after-hours events.
- Support the planning and execution of Palomar’s signature annual events.
- Co-facilitate volunteer and group service projects to foster meaningful engagement experiences.
Marketing & Communications
Content Creation & Social Media
- Assist with creating, scheduling, and managing social media content, including graphics, photography, and video.
- Assist with campaign development through storytelling, testimonials, and community impact content.
- Capture photo and video content at events, partner engagements, tours, and outreach opportunities.
- Research social media trends and contribute creative ideas for campaigns and digital engagement through a trauma-informed lens.
Graphic Design & Marketing Materials
- Design and produce marketing materials including flyers, signage, presentations, digital graphics, and other promotional materials.
- Create and update internal digital content for client and partner display screens.
- Develop and update community presentations using current statistics and service information.
- Maintain consistency with Palomar’s brand standards across marketing materials.
- Coordinate printing and distribution of marketing materials and promotional items.
Administrative & Marketing Support
- Provide administrative, logistical, and creative support for marketing and communications initiatives.
- Maintain marketing calendars, shared drives, and digital files.
- Maintain inventory of promotional materials, staff apparel, marketing supplies, and Palomar Shop orders.
- Assist in promoting client programs, partner opportunities, trainings, and community events through internal and external communications.
- Assist with updating website content to ensure information remains accurate, timely, and aligned with Palomar’s brand.
- Attend weekly one-on-one meetings, staff meetings, committee meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Position Requirements:
- Experience in event coordination and community engagement preferred
- Post-secondary education or 1-2 years of experience in marketing, communications, or social media preferred
- Experience with or interest in social media content creation, graphic design (e.g., Canva), and digital engagement
- Experience with Google Workspace, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and social media platforms, along with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use new technologies
- Ability to engage respectfully with diverse audiences and support inclusive community outreach efforts
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, partners (both onsite and offsite), and the general public
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to tone and detail across platforms
- Flexible availability, including nights and weekends, for trainings or events
- Must pass a background check
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and auto insurance
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time in an office environment
- Lift/move//carry weight up to 25lbs
- Must be able to hear and speak English
- Visual acuity to read and draft reports, case notes, letters, etc.
- Manual dexterity to use and operate a computer
- Noise level in the office is quiet to moderate; and a non-smoking environment
