HOODLINE: Oklahoma City to Enhance Support for Violence Survivors with New MAPS 4 Family Justice Center

Oklahoma City is set to enhance its support network for survivors of violence with the construction of the new MAPS 4 Family Justice Center, operated by Palomar, a cornerstone organization in trauma support. Community leaders and stakeholders gathered to mark the commencement of this significant project, reaffirming the city’s commitment to providing a haven for those impacted by domestic abuse and other distressing experiences.

This $42-million project, generously backed by MAPS 4 funds, will significantly to upscale Palomar’s capacity to deliver essential services to individuals in dire need. As reported by OKC’s official news release, the new facility will stretch out over 72,884 square feet along Hudson Ave., between NW 11th St. and NW 12th St. A variety of services, including victim assistance, therapy, and more robust educational services, will be housed in this center, slated for opening in 2027.

The foundation of this center encapsulates a shared goal among local and federal agencies, aiming for an Oklahoma City that stands as a bastion against violence and as a sanctuary for the vulnerable. “We are breaking ground on a monumental investment in Oklahoma City today—one that transforms how state, local, and federal agencies come together with the community to break the cycle of abuse, making our city one of the safest for survivors and for all,” Palomar Board Chair Tricia Everest told the City of Oklahoma City.

David Todd, MAPS Program Manager, highlighted the center’s future role in rehabilitation and education. “The new Family Justice Center will provide space for Palomar to continue and expand their transformational work in our community,” he said, acknowledging the comprehensive approach they embody in tackling the pernicious problem of domestic violence.
