"The View of You" was submitted to the 2021 Symbols of Hope art contest by Rosalba Ojeda from Crooked Oak High.
"When making this piece a lot came into my mind. My first couple of thoughts revolved around what me and others thought hope meant, or even how to get it. We all agreed that hope is often appeared in those who have peace in their mind, this inspiring many ideas. I know times like these have been extremely difficult, and although physically we are able to managed, mentally there have been struggles. My piece “The View of You” is resembling someone centered in a place with no worries, just peace and beauty. If you put your mind into a place where nothing can harm you and things flow like clouds in the sky, then you’re able to tell yourself that you can do it and that you can settle for the next big change, all while conquering every challenge thrown to you. This year has also been extremely difficult for me, I lost people I love, I had to go through surgeries, and I even ended up putting myself in a dark place, where I believed I couldn’t get out of. I wasn’t centered with myself causing me to lose the idea of me. I’m still on my journey to recover, but I learned I was my own enemy, who took away my own peace, leaving me with no hope. The little girl in the painting could be me, but it could also be you. She shows a part that says no matter what the age, we are all still young, and that will never be a problem, because we still have so much to learn. So, it’s all about having the right mindset, this leaving you with the hope you need to blossom."
